Identify the advance before comparing fees.
A credit-card cash advance uses an existing card account. A payday advance is generally a short-term loan. A pay-linked service may provide early access to earnings under its own agreement. Start by finding the contract that controls the transaction rather than comparing the word advance.
For a card, check the separate cash limit, transaction fee and interest start date. For a pay service, list membership, expedited-transfer charges and any optional tip. Then ask how the deduction affects the paycheck you will use for other bills.
Use the payday guide if the full amount is due from the next paycheck under a short-term loan contract.
Compare a scheduled repayment option if you need more than one pay period to cover the expense.
If speed is the reason for the advance, confirm when funds become usable and what the faster method costs.
Cash advances generally accrue interest from the withdrawal date. Check the card agreement for the applicable rate, fees and how payments are allocated when you also have a purchase balance.
Include every amount you expect to pay in your own dollar-cost comparison, distinguishing optional payments from required charges. This budgeting total is not a claim about which charges must legally be included in an APR.
