On a similar note, Red Dead Redemption 2 fails to engage with bad actors in this period properly. It’s the equivalent of depicting Adolf Hitler slipping on a banana—a farce with nothing substantial to say, while trying to make it seem like a statement.
This incredibly good spin-off to my personal Game of the Year from 2015, Undertale , is just part one of a possible series, and I’m super excited. We’re finally into that part of the list where I stop half-criticizing games and instead showcase how bloody good some of them are. I’ll be honest – I didn’t finish the game because I lost motivation to do so. Either way, a game has its faults but can also be quite fun. I did have a bit of a blast in co-op free roam and running around this unique open world. As is with Far Cry games, I loved the times where wild animals would appear out of nowhere and help me attack NPCs. I adored Boomer and all of the other companions, but that’s about it.
You would think anyone who has ever played a PVP game online would know crouching ensures more safety, yet every time we play a PVP match, everyone is red but us. Suffice it to say, it makes ranking top in leaderboards far less difficult than it should be. Also, though it should be obvious to all by now, Red Dead Redemption Online ‘s shotgun is insane, and if you are playing with any other gun, you will probably lose, as it is a one-hit-kill for everyone online. I can’t imagine what an inevitable Red Dead Redemption 3 would even be about. If the first game was about the death of the West and the second about how the West died, would a third go further back in the timeline in the early days of Dutch’s gang to depict a time of the West… close to dying? Perhaps Rockstar will try to go contemporary, maybe attempting to remake Hell or High Water about ten years too late. Regardless of what any of these plans may be, the experience of playing through Red Dead Redemption 2 ‘s collage of the misunderstood is one that makes the Western a genre that I will want to take the most extended break from.

When Sony blew their load at E3 2016, it was one of their best conferences and, incidentally, most of those games released this year, like God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man .
